  • Dr. Ian Mitchell

    Dr. Ian Mitchell is an emergency physician in Kamloops at the Royal Inland Hospital. After training at McMaster University, he worked at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver and the Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi before returning to his home community of Kamloops. Outside the emergency department, Ian teaches the basics of research and evidence-based medicine to residents in the Kamloops Family Medicine Residency program. Ian is also involved as a co-investigator in a randomized controlled trial examining the effects of cannabis on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Troylana Manson

    Troylana is a Kamloops kindergarten teacher by profession and an advocate for families struggling with substance use disorders. Aaron Manson, Troylana’s son died on April 26, 2021 at his parents’ house after an accidental overdose. He was 26.Troylana says Aaron’s life could have been saved if there were a more supportive environment in society where he could open up about his addiction issues without guilt and shame. Troylana has shared he story so that others may find more knowledge and understanding to deal with this crisis.

  • Aaron Krausert

    Aaron is a passionate Kamloops community supporter and local residential real estate agent. He believes that mental illness and past personal traumas contribute significantly to the marginalized community of people dealing with addictions and homelessness, Aaron says “Meeting people where they are at and helping them to become fed, safe, and rested are the first steps to improving the quality of life for all of us in our city. Not easy or quick, but damn necessary.”
